Bird banding
Two groups of students were formed, each with a teacher.
Group 1 at the banding table and group 2 with binoculars and identification cards.
Group exchange
Group at the banding table: this group sits silently in front of the banders. While the person in charge processes the bird, another person describes the process to the students, in a low voice and trying not to disrupt the process. Questions should only be asked at the end.
Group with binoculars: The other group will learn how to use binoculars and identify birds using identification guides. They will also play bird bingo.
“The safety of the birds is paramount. In order to allow the public to enjoy the birds for a longer period of time, only the minimum data will be taken, so that the bird, if it shows no signs of stress, can be shown.”
