Culture and science at the French Embassy with CM1 and CM2 pupils

Our cultural and scientific outing to the French Embassy

On Thursday 19 June, our CM1-CM2 class was lucky enough to take part in an extraordinary outing to the French Embassy. It was a day to remember!

As soon as we arrived, Gabriel’s mum gave us a warm welcome and we began our tour of the residence. We discovered a magnificent place, rich in history, with superb gardens and impressive architecture. We learned a great deal about the cultural heritage of the house, through the paintings by French painters and the sculptures, as well as the architectural heritage through the columns, the wrought-iron door and the facades. It belonged to one of the Valle brothers, whose motto was: « hasta el que mas vale no vale tanto como vale un valle ».

Next, let’s get scientific! In small groups, we took up an exciting challenge: to build a floating machine capable of travelling on water as fast and as far as possible. We had to be creative, ingenious and well coordinated. Our prototypes even managed to cross the entire swimming pool! It was great fun.

To round off the morning in style, we were treated to a delicious snack. There was juice and cake. We also took advantage of the large garden to play, run and laugh… It was the perfect moment to relax with friends.

Thank you to the French ambassador and his wife for making this day possible.
