As soon as we arrived at the Tungasuk finca, the pupils set off to explore the grounds on a pleasant walk through the heart of nature. As they made their way along the paths, they were able to observe the vegetation and enjoy an environment that encouraged exploration and stimulated the senses.
After this first walk, a snack break gave everyone a chance to recharge their batteries before continuing their explorations. We then headed to the meliponarium, where the children were able to observe the melipona bees – these small, stingless bees – and learn about their vital role in pollination. It was a wonderful opportunity to gain a better understanding of how important these insects are for biodiversity!
The visit continued with a meeting with the finca’s small animals. The pupils enjoyed feeding them and observing them up close, making for a moment rich in interaction and curiosity.
Finally, an activity focusing on plants and harvesting allowed the children to discover the plant world in a hands-on way. To extend this experience at home, everyone was given the chance to take home some soil and seeds to plant, including tomatoes and radishes. A lovely way to continue the adventure by looking after their own plants!
After a morning full of discoveries, observations and experiences, young and old alike made their way back to school, their heads full of memories and, perhaps, eager to see their first seeds sprout soon!
