A collective adventure!

Our ADN Demain Durable project, run jointly with CM1 pupils from the Lycée Français Saint-Exupéry in Ouagadougou, involved creating and installing a rainwater collector for our classroom gardens!

It all started with a great deal of thought. How can we save water, such a precious resource? We imagined, designed and drew up plans for a rainwater collector that could be useful for our school and our future planting.

But to build it, we needed materials. So we organised a cake sale with the help of our parents after school. Thanks to this action, we raised money to buy what we needed. Martin’s parents also generously donated items that are hard to find in Cuba. A huge thank you to them!

Our super handyman, Jesus, guided us through the construction of the recuperator. He gave us some very useful advice and helped us to assemble the parts. And there you have it: our water collector is ready to go! Come and see for yourself!

Now we’re going one step further. Eymar’s parents are helping us to install sun protectors so that our future plants can grow in the best possible conditions, using rainwater to water them.

This project has taught us that we can achieve great things together. We’re proud of our work and hope that our initiative will inspire other classes to think about the future of our planet!
