It’s official! Our school is now called the ‘Lycée Français International de La Havane Alejo Carpentier’.
Shortly after the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the birth of Alejo Carpentier, a great French-speaking writer and a major figure in the Spanish-speaking world, we had the honour of unveiling the official plaque of our school.
The event took place in the presence of Eléonore Caroit, Member of Parliament for French nationals living abroad, whose presence underlines her commitment to French education and culture around the world. Alongside Mr Laurent Burin des Roziers, French Ambassador to Cuba, and Mr Olivier Giron, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Action, our Principal Mrs Cristina Labadie expressed her deep gratitude to all those who make the LFIH a place of excellence, sharing and openness.
To mark this special day, the students of the Spanish IS shared their work on Carpentier’s work and invited our guests to take part in a treasure hunt through the streets of Havana, echoing La cité des Colonnes.
A moment rich in history, culture and pride for our community!
