As part of a session entitled ‘In the style of…’, nursery school pupils discovered the amazing world of the painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo. This famous 16th-century artist created portraits using fruit, vegetables, flowers and other natural elements.
After observing his imaginative works, the children discussed the shapes and colours they saw. Then it was time to get creative! Each child made their own portrait collage, assembling fruit, vegetables or geometric shapes to create an original and funny face.
To conclude this wonderful project, the pupils’ works were exhibited in the primary school playground. Children from other classes and parents were invited to come and admire these creative and imaginative portraits. It was a great opportunity to showcase the work of these young artists and share their colourful world!
This project enabled the young artists to develop their powers of observation, their creativity and their enjoyment of creating… in a different way!
